Man Arrested At Durham School Board Meeting Found Not Guilty

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A vocal critic of Durham's school board was found not guilty Thursday of disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Steve Matherly was arrested at a school board meeting in April after he strayed off topic during the public comment period and then refused to leave.

Most of the board members, as well as the school system's superintendent, Dr. Ann Denlinger, testifed.

Two other people facing the same charges, Curtis Gatewood and Carol Walthour, are scheduled to go to trial at the end of the month.
