Number Of Wake County Students Up 6,500 From Last Year, So Far

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wake County classroom crunch is bigger than expected.

The county reported that more than 120,000 students were enrolled in its schools after the first 10 days of the school year.

That was an increase of nearly 6,500 students from last year.

The numbers also beat county projections.

The system grew by 5,000 students or less the past two years.

School leaders will take another count after the 20-day mark.
