Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Food and supplies from North Carolina have arrived to areas hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Seven tractor-trailer trucks packed with food arrived in Mobile, Ala., Saturday night, officials with the N.C. Department of Agriculture said.

The food came from excess reserves in the state public school system.

Members of the Promise Land Community Church, in Creedmoor, also loaded up a truck with supplies and headed south.

The truck and volunteers made it to Moss Point, Miss., on Saturday.
