Grand Jury Indicts Man Accused Of Harassing Women He Saw In Newspaper

BENSON, N.C. — A Benson man accused of using a newspaper as a way to harass women is scheduled to appear in court in September.

In May, officers arrested James Jones, 51, on charges of repeatedly making harassing phone calls and stalking 16 different females, ranging in ages from 16 to the mid-40s.

A Johnston County grand jury indicted Jones on several charges, including harassing phone calls -- some to underage victims.

Authorities said Jones picked out women he saw in newspaper pictures, called them, and often made sexual propositions.

Some of the victims say Jones harassed them for nearly two years.
