Lawyer: Client A Victim Of 'Lying Daughter'

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A potentially damaging statement was made at the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband.

Prosecutors say Joan Shannon convinced her 15-year-old daughter to kill her husband, Army Maj. David Shannon so she could be with a man she met at a sex party.

Shannon's lawyer, Paul Herzog, says his client is the victim of a lying daughter.

Joan Shannon is charged with first-degree murder. Her daughter, Elizabeth Shannon, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
