Easley Pardons Man Wrongly Convicted Of Rape

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man wrongly convicted of raping a woman has been officially pardoned.

DNA evidence cleared Leo Waters after 21 years in prison.

The victim said Waters raped and robbed her. He always maintained his innocence.

Gov. Mike Easley granted the pardon on Wednesday. A new suspect is in custody.
