JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — An 11-month-old died from injuries and his siblings are in the hospital following an accident in Johnston County.
The SUV they were riding in flipped over several times on southbound
Interstate 95
in Johnston County near Kenly around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said 28-year-old Shannon Smith fell asleep at the wheel. She was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
Eleven-month-old Isiah Smith was killed in the accident. Eight-year-old Deonese Finch, 7-year-old Shanita Jelks and 5-year-old Caleb Jelks were transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital. There is no word on their conditions.
There is no word about whether charges will be filed against Smith.
