Murder Charges To Be Filed In Smithfield Accident

Posted Updated

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Editor's note: A story on the accident incorrectly named the driver in this accident as Kenneth Marlboro. His name is Kenneth Euell.

A man who plowed a minivan through a fence will be charged with murder.

A trooper clocked Kenneth Euell going more than 100 mph through downtown Smithfield. He lost control and slammed into a group of horse trailers. Craig Euell, 11, died at the scene.

Police said Euell was traveling with a group from Florida when a fight broke out in a parking lot at a gas station near I-95 in Johnston County. He later sped off and was later involved in the accident.

Euell and another child in the minivan are still in the hospital.
