RALEIGH, N.C. — Despite a needed repair, a representative from Crabtree Valley Mall said a parking deck at Crabtree Valley Mall is safe.
A recent inspection found a damaged expansion joint that needs to be replaced. The problem is on the newer section near Belk.
The damaged joint allowed water to leak onto the ground floor of the parking deck.
It is not the first problem at the Crabtree Valley Mall parking deck.
In 1993, a 40-by-115 foot section of the deck came crashing down in the middle of the night. The deck was only three months old at the time.
Since the mall was closed, no cars were damaged and no one was hurt.
