RALEIGH, N.C. — Several fire crews responded to a structure fire early Monday morning at the Phillips Hall Annex on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
When they arrived, they found a fire in the open space between the second-floor ceiling and the roof.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. It took fire crews nearly two hours to put it out because it was in a hard-to-reach spot.
One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and was treated at the scene. Damage to the building is estimated at $50,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
