RALEIGH, N.C. — Capitol Broadcasting Co. and DirecTV have reached an agreement that will bring WRAL-HD, and WRAZ-HD signals to most DirectTV subscribers in the Triangle in time for Sunday's NFL Super Bowl, the companies said Wednesday.

In addition, DirectTV said that approximately 30 days ago, it began transmitting updates to HD-DVRs to fix the off-air tuner problem. The company encouraged subscribers to check out their HD-DVR to see if the update has been downloaded to their devices. The change allows an off air signal to be fully integrated into the DVR.

WRAL and WRAZ each provide a full schedule of programming in high definition as well as additional weather and news offerings only on digital channels.

The companies noted that DirecTV’s current spot beam only covers 75 percent of the TV households in the Raleigh market, and people who live in ZIP codes below may not be able to catch the HD spot beam.

DirecTV is working to resolve the issue and hopes to have a new spot beam in place to cover the entire market as soon as September.
