SANFORD, N.C. — Investigators have arrested a Sanford man in connection with an early morning homicide, the Sanford Police Department said Friday afternoon.

At about 4:17 a.m. Friday, officers were called to an apartment on South Steele Street where they found Darrell Kobe Johnson, 20, of Juniper Street. Johnson was dead when emergency crews arrived.

Gregory Jackson Clark, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.

Police say the occupant of the apartment, Quenteria Jackson, 20, went to the police department around 4 a.m. to report that Johnson, also known as Darrell Harrington, had been shot at her residence as the result of a domestic dispute.

Johnson's body will be transported to the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Clark is in the Lee County Jail under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.

Authorities have not released any other details about their investigation.
