FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County authorities have arrested a Fayetteville woman and charged her in connection with the 1998 death of an infant.

On Oct. 7, 1998, emergency crews were called to the home where 24-year-old Latisha Harris had been baby-sitting. They said 3-month-old Marquise Bridges was reported to be unconscious and not breathing.

EMS workers tried for more than an hour to resuscitate Bridges, but were unsuccessful. Autopsy results determined the baby died from a skull fracture.

On Monday, Harris was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury on a charge of second-degree murder. She was taken into custody Thursday and placed in the county's detention center.
