Suspect Accused Of N.C. Tailgating Murders Sentenced For Home Invasion Crime

Tony Johnson will spend at least 16 years in prison for first-degree burglary, armed robbery and first-degree kidnapping charges.

Prosecutors said Tony and his brother, Timothy Johnson, broke into a Raleigh home on Aug. 28 to looking for items that may have been stolen from Timothy Johnson's home. They said the men brought three guns, a knife and a bat to the residence where they tied up the four residents of the home with duct tape and put them in a bedroom.

The home invasion occurred a few days before the brothers were charged with shooting and killing two men at a football tailgating party.

Tony Johnson is scheduled to go on trial for the murders in October.
