Cumberland County Sheriff Wants To Reopen Old Jail

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Cumberland County is considering new plans for its old jail.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office wants to reopen the facility to house inmates from other areas, but it is not clear how much money the venture would bring in.

Sheriff Moose Butler said he would, however, need almost 50 more jail employees.

Cumberland County commissioners want more information.

The old jail closed in 2003 when the new jail opened.
