GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A drive-by shooting in Wayne County killed one man and injured four others, including a 6-year-old girl.

Deputies said a birthday party was in progress at the clubhouse at Durham's Lake about midnight when gunmen showered bullets at the building, hitting the victims inside.

Arturo Acevedo, 34, was killed, and the young girl suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. Oscar Ocampo, who is Acevedo's brother-in-law, said that the child is doing well. There is no word on the conditions of the other victims.

Rodney Hamilton, who lives near the clubhouse, told WRAL the party started Saturday afternoon, with dozens of adults and children having fun outside the building. He heard the gunshots later in the evening.

"Boom, boom, boom, boom," Hamilton said as he described the sound. "I said to myself, 'Dang, I hope nobody got killed.'"

Venancio Martinez, 17; Antonio Orterzo, whose age wasn't immediately known; and Armando Laredo, 18, are sought for questioning in the shooting. Authorities are also looking for two other men, but their identities were not immediately known. Investigators said at least one of the suspects has family in Duplin County.

Authorities believe the men are riding in a four-door red or burgundy 1998 Hyundai with North Carolina license plate number WPM-6706. They may also be armed with some type of .223 S/A rifle, authorities said.

Anyone with information in regard to the shooting or the men sought for questioning is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at  919-731-1481.
