Authorities Arrest Man Suspected Of Convenience Store Scams

Around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Wake County Sheriff's Office along with other law enforcement agencies, arrested Jeffrey Bernard Brueggeman at the Kangaroo Convenience Store at the intersection of Tryon Road and Holly Springs Road.

Brueggeman, 41, of Paces Forest Road in Raleigh, was charged with three counts of impersonating a law enforcement officer, one count of larceny and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators believe Brueggeman was involved in convenience store scams where he would identify himself as an undercover Drug Enforcement Agent and try to return batteries that he claimed he no longer needed.

Authorities said that the Wake County Sheriff's Office, the Raleigh Police Department, the U.S. Marshal's Violent Fugitive Task Force, and the N.C. Division of Adult Probation and Parole worked together to arrest Brueggeman.
