Man Mistakenly Declared Dead Making Progress, Speaking

Posted Updated

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A Franklin County man who was taken to the morgue in a body bag and mistakenly pronounced dead took a major step in his recovery Saturday, his family told WRAL-TV.

In January, a car hit Larry Donell Green on a Franklin County road. Paramedics mistakenly pronounced him dead at the scene, but he was later discovered alive at the morgue.

Green's family told WRAL-TV that Green spoke his first words Saturday afternoon.

Green's family said he recognizes faces and remembers names.

Though he's not putting full sentences together, Green is speaking, they said.
