Georgia Murder Suspect Apprehended in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Georgia murder suspect who eluded Nash and Franklin County authorities was apprehended Thursday in Rocky Mount.

Patrick Lynch was captured at about 1:30 p.m. by the U.S. Marshals Service's Violent Fugitive Task Force at a residence at the Kingsway Mobile Home Park.

Lynch, 22, was hiding in a trailer and did resist arrest, authorities said.

"He was hiding in a back bedroom under the bed," said Commander Tex Lindsey with the U.S. Marshals Service.

On Wednesday, a Nash County sheriff's deputy was following Lynch, who was driving a stolen vehicle. Lynch pulled over and fled on foot into a wooded area, authorities said.

Lynch was wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Dekalb County, Ga. He was also wanted for felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony flight while eluding arrest and driving with a revoked license.

Authorities believe he was in Nash County because he had family there.

Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins said a friend took Lynch to the mobile home park, where authorities searched before getting a tip on exactly where he was located.

"It's wonderful that he's off the street," Jenkins said. "There's no telling what he could do and is capable of doing."

Marshals were led to Lynch's location by an informant who is now eligible for a $7,500 reward.

It was not immediately known when Lynch would be taken back to Georgia.
