Power Outage Causing Hazardous Conditions For Traffic

Posted Updated

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A large power outage in Johnston County near the Wilson Mills area of U.S. Highway 70 has caused hazardous traffic conditions according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Several traffic lights on U.S. 70 bypass are out. The Highway Patrol said it had several trooper en route to direct traffic.

The traffic lights, however, will not be fixed until the power has been restored.

As of 6 p.m., Progress Energy reports that power has been restored for half of the 4,000 customers who lost power in the Smithfield-Clayton area.
