Neighbors, Investigators Waiting To Hear Why Woman Fell Out Of Moving Car

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Friends, family and investigators still want to know why a Cary woman jumped out of her moving car on Interstate 40 Wednesday.

North Carolina Highway Patrol investigators say Catherine Crowder was alone in her car when she jumped out of the driver's seat and tumbled into the middle of the road. The car she was driving kept going and crashed into the woods.

Crowder is recovering from serious injuries at Duke Hospital. Because of her injuries, investigators have not been able to talk with her, but they say they hope to do so in the next couple of days.

In Crowder's Cary neighborhood, many people ask the same questions everyone else seems to be thinking.

"We have no idea," neighbor Adrienne Evans said. "We're just in a state of shock. We just don't know what to think.."

Crowder, who also goes by Faith, works at Bank of America in the mortgage division. Neighbors say though quiet, the Crowders seem to be a happy couple.

They say that what happened in Crowder's car, they may not ever know, but that at this point, that is not what really matters.

"All we can do is send out our prayers to her," Evans said.
