Vicentia Colon Noyola, 28, has been held in the Forsyth County Jail since Feb. 26 on a charge of concealing the birth of her son.
The murder warrant was served Tuesday, and she is being held without bond.
The investigation began when police were called to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24. Noyola had arrived at the hospital complaining of pain and bleeding, and denied that she had given birth, according to a search warrant filed in court.
Doctors determined that she had recently given birth, according to the search warrant. At the hospital, she eventually told police that she had had the baby at her house.
Officers found the full-term baby dead in a white plastic bag, and a medical examiner determined that the boy was born alive and was suffocated, the Forsyth County District Attorney's Office said.
While police awaited the medical examiner's ruling on the cause of death, they charged Noyola with a felony of concealing the birth of a child.
