WRAL's First TV Anchor Dies At Age 80

RALEIGH, N.C. — WRAL has lost a longtime friend of its broadcasting family.

Bill Armstrong, WRAL's first television anchor, passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 80.

One of Armstrong's many achievements was his interview with Neil Armstrong, who was training at UNC-Chapel Hill and later became an astronaut.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Brown-Wynn Funeral Home.
