Curfew Policy Takes Effect April 1 At Consolidated Theatres

Posted Updated

CHARLOTTE — Consolidated Theatres announced in a written statement that it will no longer permit anyone under the age of 16, who is not accompanied by an adult, into any feature film that starts at 9:30 p.m. or later.

The policy -- intended to be a strong stance against loitering -- will take effect on April 1.

Area theatres part of Consolidated include the Raleigh Grande, the Streets at Southpoint and Cary Crossroads.

The theatres won't be the first business in the area to restrict teen-agers.

In January, Parkwood Mall in Wilson implemented a "Family First" policy. It requires anyone 16 and under to be with a parent or guardian after 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Northgate Mall in Durham adopted the same policy in 2003.
