A mix of snow, sleet and rain fell Thursday morning, mostly in the northern counties along the Virginia border. Caswell, Granville, Person, Vance and Warren county schools have closed. Franklin and Northampton county schools are delayed two hours.

A winter weather advisory was in effect until noon for Alamance, Orange, Durham, Person, Granville, Vance, Warren and Halifax counties. It has been allowed to expire.
Very few minor one-car accidents were reported because of a slick roads in areas north of the Triangle. There were five wrecks reported on Interstate 85 Thursday morning, the North Carolina Highway Patrol said. Officials in Vance County said that several wrecks had caused some power outages in the county, but all power was restored by 7:15 a.m.
Authorities have not reported any injuries with those wrecks.
In the Triangle, there was mostly rain Thursday morning with some sleet and snow mixed in. Authorities in Cary, Apex and southeast Raleigh reported sleet in those cities. In Roxboro, there was about 2 1/2 inches of snow, mostly on grassy areas.
The system should move out Thursday afternoon, with clearing expected on Friday. After Friday, temperatures are expected to rise in the 50s and 60s.
