DURHAM, N.C. — A man charged with causing a deadly accident may have had a blood alcohol level three times the legal driving limit.

Court papers filed by Durham District Attorney Jim Hardin say police believe Kenneth Maready's blood alcohol was .225.

Maready is charged with second-degree murder. Last month, investigators say he was drunk when he got behind the wheel of a stolen car and plowed into a truck.

Kay Stokes died as a result. Maready has a lengthy criminal history that includes as many as nine prior DWIs.
