Fayetteville teacher faces new child sex abuse charges

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Friday that Bradley Norman Dent, 46, of 7006 Lamure Drive, was re-arrested Friday and jailed under a $225,000 bond on charges of second-degree forcible sex offense and first-degree kidnapping after a 17-year-old reported that Dent forced him to have sexual contact.

Dent, a fourth-grade teacher at Long Hill Elementary School, was also arrested Tuesday after the parents of the 15-year-old reported similar allegations to Fayetteville police.

In that case, Dent had been working as a part-time counselor at Carolina Counseling Services, at 1318 Raeford Road, when the alleged abuse happened sometime between mid-April and mid-May, police said.

Investigators said the teenager does not live in Cumberland County.

An employee of Carolina Counseling Services said Dent is a licensed social worker who quit working at the facility a few months ago.

Cumberland County Schools has placed Dent, who has taught in the school system for more than seven years, on paid suspension.

Authorities have not said whether they think there might be other victims, but they said the investigation is ongoing.
