RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for a man wearing a skeleton mask who has been involved in four robberies at ATMs in the last week.

The skeleton-masked man robbed two people at gunpoint this past weekend -- one as recently as Sunday night in Wakefield. The same man is believed to have robbed two people at ATMs last week.

During Sunday night's robbery, the man left police an important clue -- his fingerprints. Usually the thief, who wields a gun, wears gloves. However, on Sunday night, police said the man was not wearing gloves when he robbed a person at the drive-up ATM at a Wachovia.

During a robbery Saturday night, a victim fought back against the skeleton-masked thief.

"I swatted at the gun and drove off," said Curt O'Briant, who was robbed at the CCB located at 3620 Six Forks Road. "Actually, I circled around the building, came back and tried to run him over and he jumped up against the ATM."

O'Briant was at a CCB ATM on Saturday night at about 8:30 p.m. The robber got away with $300.

Police said no amount of money is worth getting hurt or losing your life.

Both of last week's robberies happened on Capital Blvd.

At about 12:30 a.m. last Monday, the assailant approached a victim who was at a drive-through ATM at 4000 Capital Blvd. The man robbed the victim and fled on foot.

At about the same time Tuesday morning, a man approached and robbed a drive-through ATM customer at 5005 Capital Blvd., fleeing on foot after committing the crime.

The robber is described as a male, possibly white, who is between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a skeleton mask and brandished a black handgun.

The N.C. Bankers Association is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the robber.

Anyone with information that might be helpful to investigators is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at (919) 890-3555 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 226-2746 (226-CRIME).
