Plan Would Boost Pay For State Legislators

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — State lawmakers want a raise for the first time in more than 10 years.

A bill introduced in the Senate would raise the annual pay for most members to $25,000 per year.

House and Senate leaders, who currently make up to $38,000 a year, would get a $10,000 raise.

The increases would take effect in 2007 and would be the first since 1993.
