Snow Possible In Central N.C. Thursday Morning

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle will likely be near the dividing line of winter weather and rain starting late Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Forecasters say that snow, sleet and freezing rain are possible in the Triangle starting late Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says that there is a 30 percent chance of rain or snow Wednesday night and a 50 percent chance of rain or snow Thursday.

WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said that it appears the Triangle area could be on the edge of the area that gets rain or snow. Areas north and west of Raleigh are more likely to get frozen precipitation, she said.

On Saturday, the Triangle was the dividing line between a system that was expected to bring 1 to 3 inches of snow or sleet to the area. Very little frozen precipitation was seen in the area, however.

Another system that was forecast to hit Raleigh on Jan. 22 also left much of the Triangle with only rain after forecasters predicted frozen precipitation in the region.
