A car hit a power pole around 5:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of White Oak Road and Hebron Road.
The wreck also knocked out a feeder line at a nearby substation, which caused an outage for 3,200 customers. Power crews managed to restore power to all but 500 customers by 7 a.m.
Progress Energy said power should be restored to the 500 customers in the outage sometime after 12:30 p.m. Friday
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Lee Wiggins of Knightdale was traveling northbound on White Oak when he lost control of his pickup and hit a power pole. He was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. Wiggins is charged with DWI and careless/reckless driving.
