Terminal C At RDU International Set For Major Overhaul

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Big changes are on the way for

Raleigh-Durham International

.

Starting in January, part of Terminal C will be demolished and then rebuilt. The new terminal will be more spacious to handle the influx of travelers and feature more security lanes.

"When you go into the terminal, you will see a lot of woodwork. You will also see a lot of stainless steel that reflects the technology-oriented side of the region as well," said Mindy Hamlin, RDU spokeswoman.

Airport officials hope the new terminal will bring in more airlines to RDU, which will offer more direct connections to more cities.

"We will have more space for our current airlines to expand and for new airlines to join our community," Hamlin said.

The construction is not expected to cause any problems with flight schedules. The project is expected to take nearly five years to complete.
