NC State celebrates 125 years with street festival
The Wolfpack will be celebrating its 125th birthday this Saturday with a festival on Hillsborough Street.
Posted — Updated"We transform not just students when they come in to the university, but the world over as we graduate folks and participate in activities all over the world," Justine Hollingshead, the Packapalooza event coordinator, said.
Wolfpack sports teams, student organizations, restaurants, businesses and vendors will pack the street full of Pack pride.
"Students here get things done. That's one thing I've been proud of. We are doers. We go out in to the community local, national and make things happen," said Andy Walsh, student body president.
The festival will take place on Hillsborough Street, an integral part of the university.
"It's not just an NC State event, it's a local and community event," Walsh said.
The event kicks off at 2 p.m. and officially runs until 10 p.m. Afterward many restaurants on Hillsborough Street will be featuring more live music and specials.
Hillsborough Street will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Saturday from Brooks Avenue to the Pullen Road roundabout.
