NEW YORK — WRAL-TV is among 14 winners of the 2007 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University awards for broadcast journalism.

The award is for two documentaries in WRAL-TV's "Focal Point" series, "Standards of Living" and "Paper-Thin Promise."

"Standards of Living" examined the housing conditions of migrant farm workers in North Carolina, while "Paper-Thin Promise" looked at the use of restraining orders in domestic violence cases.

The award is recognized in the industry as broadcasting's Pulitzer Prize. Judges could not decide which of WRAL-TV's two entries should receive the award, so it was bestowed to both of them.

WRAL-TV's documentary unit will be featured Jan. 23 in a PBS documentary on duPont winners, "Telling The Truth: The Best in Broadcast Journalism."
