FDA Requests Recall For Heartworm Preventive

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Health concerns have forced a popular heartworm preventative for dogs to be recalled.

WRAL reported months ago on complaints about

Proheart 6

injections. Various vets reported a few problems, but the Food and Drug Administration requested the recall after fielding more than 5,000 complaints from dog owners.

Officials blamed Proheart 6 for side effects in their dogs that ranged from nausea to seizures to death.
