Truck Driver Charged In Fatal Wake County Wreck

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Nash County woman is dead and her daughter is critically injured after an accident in Northern Wake County Wednesday evening.

The two-vehicle wreck happened just after 5 p.m. at Highway 98 and Ghoston Road, between Highway 50 and Six Forks Road.

The Highway Patrol says a truck rear-ended a car as it was slowing down for traffic, sending the car into the path of a Jeep in the other lane.

Ronald Sykes, the driver of the car, was treated for minor injuries. His wife, Jane, 66, a passenger in the front seat, died. Their daughter, Lisa Leland, 40, of Tarboro, is listed in critical condition at WakeMed.

The driver fo the Jeep received minor injuries.

The truck driver, Ellington Ray Parrish of San Antonio, Texas, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and is being held in the wake County jail on a $500 secured bond.
