RALEIGH, N.C. — Police are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area in Raleigh.

Authorities said the remains were found Sunday afternoon by a pedestrian behind the Schenley Square mobile home park on Garner Road.

Police said the remains were found in an area that is usually overgrown during the summer months, so they could have been there for several months.

The remains have been taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill. Officials are trying to determine the person's identity and a cause of death.
