No Mustard Gas Found At Ex-Scotland County Airport

Posted Updated

LAURINBURG, N.C. — The Army Corps of Engineers has found no mustard gas at the former Laurinburg-Maxton Airport.

Crews had been looking for as many as 10 drums of mustard gas that might have been buried during World War II.

Officials say the site included a bazooka range. Two live rounds were found and detonated, but officials say no drums were found. They also said warning signs are not needed around the area.
