FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The sentencing phase is under way for a Fayetteville man convicted of killing two people.
Joshua Ballard, convicted of murdering Eric Carpenter and Kelsea Helton, took the stand in his own defense last week.
A jury returned the guilty verdict Tuesday after more than five hours of deliberating.
Ballard was also convicted of armed robbery and conspiracy. He could receive the death penalty.
