Arts Leaders Brainstorm for Ideas to Brighten Fayetteville Street

The future of Raleigh's downtown plaza was the topic of discussion Thursday night at a public meeting.

About 60 of the community's most creative and influential people put their heads together as they tried to come up with suggestions for the plaza that anchors the New Fayetteville Street.

Last year, city leaders rejected a design by world renowned artist Jaume Plensa. Critics said the structure of lights blocked the view down Fayetteville Street.
