DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham City Council should have a severance package ready Thursday for outgoing City Manager Marcia Conner. City leaders will also talk about finding her replacement.
Earlier in July, Conner and the City Council agreed to terminate her contract as city manager.
Conner has been operating under a microscope since 2002. She came under fire for a lengthy police chief search, then drew sharp criticism for the questionable handling of city contracts.
The search for a new city manager is expected to take six months.
"I don't think we are going to have a problem in terms of getting applicants for this job," Durham Mayor Bill Bell said.
The City Council is expected to meet at noon. Conner, who began as city manager in June 2001, was set to make $142,000 this year.
