RAEFORD, N.C. — A North Carolina woman hopes to cash in for her special recipe.

Laurie McGraw of Raeford is one of 100 finalists in the

Pillsbury Bake-Off

. She is counting on her "kicked-up crab bites" to win her the grand prize -- $1 million.

"I get really nervous and then I'm OK, and then I get really nervous again," she said. "Right now, I'm OK. I'm just going to have fun."

McGraw's recipe is a mixture of others. She takes ideas she likes and blends them together. The Pillsbury folks liked her idea. McGraw said she did not know what to say when they called.

"I didn't want to scream in her ear, and I didn't want to scream in front of the kids because I didn't want to scare them, but it's exciting," she said.

McGraw gets to do something she loves while waiting for the man she loves to return from Iraq. Her husband has been deployed for months.

"You can't worry all the time, and I just do whatever I can do and just get through each day, work on the yard and work on the house," she said.

McGraw heads to Hollywood at the end of the month. She gets three chances to make her dish for the judges. Even if she does not win the grand prize, she may receive other prizes such as a home appliance.
