Highway Patrol To Step Up Enforcement Along I-95 In Johnston County

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — The state Highway Patrol is getting more aggressive about traffic enforcement in Johnston County followingafter a string of accidents on Interstate 95 in Johnston County over the long weekend.

The patrol has now launched an aggressive enforcement campaign on I-95 and Interstate 40 in Johnston County. Troopers will crack down on speeding and other hazardous moving violations on the interstate for an indefinite period of time.

Friday morning, three separate wrecks on I-95 closed the interstate for 11 hours. Before the holiday weekend was over on Monday, there were 12 more wrecks on I-95 in Johnston County. Two of the crashes were deadly.

Troopers in Johnston County cited a total of 201 drivers on I-95 and I-40 over the holiday weekend. They also made eight DWI arrests.
