RALEIGH, N.C. — DNA analysis of previously untested rape kits is helping to solve cold cases in North Carolina.

On Thursday, Attorney General Roy Cooper announced suspects in two Greensboro-area rapes, one of which dated back to 1992. Both men are already in jail.

Further analysis is also generating new leads in another case.

In the past, Cooper said DNA testing increases the chances of convicting the guilty and freeing the innocent.
