No charges will be filed against a former Cary Academy teacher, police said Monday.

The unidentified teacher resigned two weeks ago after allegations surfaced that he had inappropriate contact with students at the private school, police said.

The 41-year-old teacher videotaped students on Dec. 4, but police said an investigation determined that the taping was an accident. The tape has been destroyed, police said.

“The teacher and the school have both been extremely cooperative as we’ve worked to determine what actually occurred in this incident,” Capt. Dave Wulff of the Cary Police Department said.

“We appreciate the diligence and the thoroughness of the Cary Police Department in the investigation of this sensitive matter,” Cary Academy Headmaster Don Berger said. “We have confidence in the outcome and are pleased that the case is closed.”
