Support Grows For Proposed Toll Road Near RTP

Posted Updated

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Support is growing for building a toll road to relieve congestion along Interstate 40 in Research Triangle Park.

The Triangle Parkway would run from the Durham Freeway to a future section of Interstate 540 near Cary.

It would cost drivers about $1 to shave 20 minutes off their commute.

Officials said toll roads can be built faster by borrowing against future toll revenues.

The Triangle Parkway has the endorsement of Cary, Raleigh and Morrisville.
