Dismissal of Charge in Return for Pamphlet by Parents

Posted Updated

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A husband and wife charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and Orange County prosecutors agreed that their writing a booklet about how to avoid underage drinking, drug use and sex at parties led to the charges being dismissed.

Brian and Cami Kinahan were arrested after Chapel Hill police answering a noise complaint found teens drinking at their 16-year-old son's birthday party in April 2005. The couple said they had not allowed alcohol, but uninvited teenagers brought it with them when they came to the Kinahans' home.

The agreement with prosecutors was reached in July 2005, and the couple's attorney said then that they had already written the pamphlet on how parents and teens can plan alcohol-, drug- and sex-free parties and shared it with school administrators, fulfilling the requirements of the agreement.
