FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday night that wanted fugitives Michael Jerome Philon and Mary Ann Webb have been arrested in Tampa, Fla.

Philon and Webb were taken into custody by United States Marshals at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday.

According to Sam Pennica of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Philon and Webb will be extradited to North Carolina sometime next week.

Philon and Webb, along with Tahishei Harrison, were wanted in connection with a crime spree that began April 27 in Fayetteville.

Harrison turned herself in Thursday night in Jacksonville, Fla.

Fayetteville officials believe that, on April 27, the three suspects shot 66-year-old Alton Smith in the face. Smith was robbed and left for dead.

The next day, according to investigators, the trio moved on to Dunn, N.C., and stole 73-year-old William Dennis' car. Dennis' car later was recovered in a Frederick, Md., shopping center, but Dennis remained missing Friday night.

Investigators believe the same three suspects also tried to kidnap a woman in Maryland on Wednesday. The woman managed to escape.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, the Dunn Police Department, the Maryland State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Marshals Service joined forces to conduct a nationwide search for the suspects.
