Lightning Ruled Out As Cause Of Goldsboro Fire

Posted Updated

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Investigators ruled out lightning as a cause of a fire that destroyed a historic building in Goldsboro.

Sunday's fire gutted the Wayne County Community Building. The building was used for seasonal programs and summer camps for local children.

A bad thunderstorm moved through around the time of the fire, but officials did not find any connection to the fire.

Investigators are analyzing samples from the scene to figure out what happened.
