Retired Teacher Incentive Law May Be Extended

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — An incentive to lure retired teachers back to work could be extended for a few more years.

A legislative committee is recommending that a law due to expire in June be extended. It allows retired teachers to come back to work without losing their retirement benefits.

The goal is to reduce the state's teacher shortage. The extension would last for six more years.

The extension will be considered when the General Assembly meets in May.
